2008 is a big year for horse racing as a lot of horse racing action is coming up in the following year. However, there is more to be said about what has been done. Unbridled Belle could go for winning for the fifth time the Delaware Handicap when she takes on ten other older mares and fillies in the Sundays 71st running of the Dollar one Million race at the prestigious Delaware Park.

Belle is a 5 year old mare, trained by Todd Pletcher. On Tuesday morning’s draw Belle Belle got post 9 and was named as the tracks two-one morning-line favorite. Now she will carry 122 pounds, which is one pound more than the three-one 2nd choice Hystericalady. She will also carry three pounds more than Spring Waltz, another favorite.

Almost a year ago, Belle thrashed in the famous Del Cap by a huge margin of 7 ¾ lengths, it was the largest winning margins since the race got extended to almost 1 ¼ miles in the year 1951. That is not it, in her single start this year; Belle won the known local prep for the Del Cap. It was a dollar 150,000 race. This time she retains her regular jockey, Ramon Dominguez.
